therein lies a marvelous horrible
giddy and sorrowful
a timeline guiltless betrayal
when something great happens
in the most terrible places
I don’t mean to sound simple
to beg attention to rhyme
who wins those races
matters not in the lie
among the faceless
behind all the chapters lost wandering
unread irreversible
done howling at moons still waning
when a women sings softly
to the men who displace her
I make a note of their presence
those blue wants of a morning
who are the authors
windows smarter than fire
setting the paces
ahead loom the dangerous pedestals
broken unmerciful
midst rubbish of sweet reprisal
when women dig deeper
in the most terrible places
I would have travelled the distance
ironing creases from time
who are those faces
icons bolder than I
thrashing the races
